West Po Competes Well in the First Quad Meet of the Season


The West  Potomac Track and Field Team competed in their first quad meet of the new season on a cold and blustery Wednesday evening at Annandale.

There were several notable performances by the boys. Mychael Gymafi won the Shot and Discus events with tosses of 123 and 38 feet respectively. Junior Josh Ransom also placed second,  throwing 37 feet in the Shot.  Diermorney Pierson-El won the Long Jump with a leap of 18’8 and placed second in the High Jump. Placing first in the High Jump and leading the  boys 4x400 to a win along with a second in the 400m was Lozie Goolsby. Finishing second in both the 110 Hurdles and the 300 Hurdles in a time of 43.18 was Kelly Omeara.

On the girls side Ke'Shaun Davis won the 100m and 200m Dashes,  in 12.27 and 25.23 respectively.  She was followed by Michelle Gymafi, placing second and third in the 100m and 200m. Aniya Taylor won the High Jump with a district qualifying mark of 4’10". Kelly Slatery placing 2nd in the 100m Hurdles,  3rd in the Long Jump,  4th in the  Long Jump and 300m Hurdles,  and 5th in the High Jump. Briana Boykin finished 2nd in the Long Jump. Kelsey O’Hern was 2nd in the 1600m and teammate Jennifer Thomson was close behind in 3rd. The girls 4x400 finished third.
