Leslie Sherman Invitational Recap


The Wolverines opened up the 2013 outdoor season over their Spring Break at the Leslie Sherman Memorial Invitational.  In the team scoring West Potomac was 9th on the girls side and 10th in the boys team scores.
                  Returning All-Region senior Ke’Shaun Davis placed well in her two events, finishing 4th in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m with a district qualifying time of 27.43.  Sophomore Melanie Bomberg was 8th in the 800, winning her heat in 2:36.64.  The girls 4x400m relay was 7th in a time of 4:53.63.
                  On the boys side junior Mychael Gymafi started off his second season of track strong by placing 2nd in the Discus.  Sophomore Lozie Goolsby placed 2nd overall in the 400 meter dash and well under the District standard with his new personal best of 51.56. Goolsby was also 3rd in the High Jump.  Junior Diermoney Pierson-El competed well in his first track meet by placing 4th in the 100m and matching the District standard in 11.62, while also placing 7th in the High Jump.  The boys 4x400m relay was 5th after placing 3nd in their section with a time of 3:40.33.                   Next up for the Wolverines will be their first quad meet on Wednesday at Annandale against Patriot District foes Lake Braddock, Annandale and Robert E. Lee.  They will also compete with selected athletes Saturday at the Legard Relays,  held at WT Woodson.
