Welcome to the 2013 Spring Track Season!

Hooray it is Spring and with the flowers and warmer weather comes the beginning of spring track! Returning and new athletes are well into their training with competitions beginning next week. This blog will be your news source for all things track and field. Schedules, meet recaps, and special directions from the coaches will all be posted here. We do our best to regularly update the blog every week on Sunday evenings, so so you can take a look before the work/school week begins. Please scroll down to see a number of articles of importance, including information about our team dinners, and volunteers needed for our home track meet and elementary school meets which are held at West Potomac. If you have information that you would like to include in the blog please contact Lisa Guide our blog administrator, at lisaguide@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing all of you out in the bleachers and on the track!

Sign Up to Host or Help with Team Dinners

Track team dinners are a great way for the athletes to get to know each other and enjoy a bit of social time after all their hard work at practices and meets. This year the team will host three team dinners and Senior Night, which will honor our graduating seniors. The dinners will be April 5th at the Genuarios, April 26th (host to be determined), May 3rd at the Passacantandos, and Senior Night at the Rosenbergs on May 10. Please sign up to host, help or bring food and/or supplies for one of these team events. You can sign up here:  Thanks to Suzanne Dash for coordinating these dinners!

Volunteers Needed for Home Meets

Parent Volunteers will be needed for our one home Quad meet on April 10. Mark your calendar and look for a Sign Up Genius for volunteer slots. We will need timers, concession workers and help at the front gate. West Potomac also hosts two elementary school track meets. These are scheduled for Monday April 22 and Monday May 13, with a rain date on May 20. While the athletes run the meet, parents are needed to help with concessions. This is a fundraiser for the track team, and if anyone has attended these meet in the past you know that it is packed with hungry parents cheering on their little ones. Please come and help us serve a lot of food and drink.
